Hyperdocs

A great tool to use when trying to find ways to keep students engaged in your lessons are Hyperdocs. Hyperdocs are an interactive document, such as a slideshow, where students are provided links to information on the topic they are learning about, including links to videos or websites, and where students will show what they have learned. They are a great way to mix technology into the classroom and to give students a change of pace from more traditional lesson formats. There are all kinds of Hyperdocs that can be found online made by teachers and shared for anyone to use.

One great Hyperdoc I found is this one on introducing students to scientific notation. It includes links to a video explaining what scientific notation is and response sections for students to show their understanding of the concept. Students get practice converting standard to notations to scientific notation and the other way around. There are multiple videos linked in the document for students to hear multiple explanations, including a song! It even includes options for students to choose how they want to show what they have learned. And if anything in the document does not work for you or your classroom is it easy to modify to you and your students needs!
