Virtual Field trip

 Venice

For my virtual field trip I chose Italy, more specific, Venice. The reasoning of my choice is because I found Italy a very interesting place. I love their food and how beautiful their cities are. Venice stuck out from every city given the large body of water it is surrounded by. Venice is on top of the list of places I want to visit.

Facts and Where to visit

Venice is located in the northern part of Italy, the state of Veneto. The city was built on hundreds of tiny islands in the Adriatic Sea. Instead of regular roads, the city consists of canals and waterways for the people of the city to move around. Some of the "most visit" landmarks are centre of the Renaissance, Grand Canal and Piazza San Marco.

What to do?

The biggest attraction of Venice is the architecture. The Gothic masterpiece Doge's Palace is a very symbolic one in the city. The pink and white marble building is the center of the Venice Carnival celebrations that happen each year.

A quick gondola trip from Doge's Palace will take you to Peggy Guggenheim Collection, which is one of the world's best art collections. Not too far from there, you can visit the more traditional/Renaissance era art at the Galleria dell'Accademia. For a mix between Renaissance and modern art, Punta della Dogana is a great option.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit Venice will depend on the kind of weather you like. Venice has more of a Mediterranean Climate. During hot summer months like July and August temperature does not go above 32C or 90F, which is perfect if you enjoy the hot sun weather with beautiful blue skies. Rain season is in spring between the months of April and May. The temperature during spring is usually between 17c and 22c or 60F and 70F, which is a perfect middle ground for hot and more cool weather. Venice Carnival is always between the months of February and March, making it the best time to visit if you like to party and have a good time.

In reality Venice is a most visit masterpiece. The people the culture and the architecture will amaze you and make it your favorite place to look at some art or take part on festivals.

  2. Venice sounds like such a beautiful and interesting place to visit. The way the city is built on islands with canals instead of roads makes it feel so unique to other locations. I like that you included details about the architecture and art—both seem like must-sees if I or any other person were to visit. If you could visit during any season, which time of year would you choose?

  3. I love this because I am in love with the history of Italy and the architecture with everything. I love that you added times, weather and degree approximates because that is so helpful when having to plan a big trip to somewhere that you have never been before! I think this is so interesting. I'd love to know if there are any specific places in Venice like history museums you can visit!
